For a lot of nonprofits, summer can be a time for planning an upcoming fiscal year. I highly suggest that you do this from the comfort of an air-conditioned space. I also suggest that you think about how you plan on adding grants to your income. If you’re not writing grant applications, you’re missing out on huge potential funding.
Recently, the Foundation Center reported that last year more than 75,000 grant making foundations (including private family and corporate foundations) gave $25 BILLION in grant funding. Consider these statistics as well:
•More than 1,300 foundations awarded nearly 27,500 grants worth in excess of $3.9 billion for the Arts, Culture and Humanities.
•More than 1,200 foundations awarded over 22,500 grants worth almost $6 billion for Hospitals and Health organizations.
•More than 1,200 foundations awarded over 20,000 grants worth in excess of $2.3 billion for Elementary and Secondary Education.
•More than 1,300 foundations awarded nearly 23,000 grants worth over $6 billion for Higher Education.
